Sure, what you’re about to see is well written. And yes, it does star Russell Wilson, the quarterback that won the Super Bowl that year. And yes, the VO is the one and only Harry Belafonte. But, what isn’t obvious is that this commercial originally had no VO at all. It was intended to be a silent and powerful piece of film carried by sound effects, cinematography, and Russell’s performance. The edit was done. The film colored. The client? Not happy. They wanted a VO. I had to write a script to the finished film. Couldn’t change a thing. Oh, and I had very little time to do it. It was by far the most pressure I’ve ever felt, and the hardest thing I’ve ever done.
